The two versions of JLR diagnostic software
Jaguar/Land Rover provides two diagnostic software platforms for use on Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles:
- TOPIx Cloud Diagnostics — the newer cloud-based JLR diagnostic platform.
- SDD (Symptom Driven Diagnostics) — the legacy JLR diagnostic platform used for earlier model year vehicles.
The correct platform to use depends entirely on the vehicle's model year and model.
When to use TOPIx Cloud Diagnostics
Use TOPIx Cloud Diagnostics on the following Jaguar/Land Rover vehicles:
- Discovery, Range Rover, and Range Rover Sport — model year 2017 (17MY) and newer.
- All other Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles — model year 2018 (18MY) and newer, excluding XJ.
TOPIx Cloud is the current Jaguar/Land Rover diagnostic platform for newer vehicles and is the right choice for any in-warranty or recent-generation JLR vehicle within the coverage above.
When to use SDD (Symptom Driven Diagnostics)
Use SDD for earlier Jaguar/Land Rover vehicles, including:
- Jaguar/Land Rover vehicles older than the TOPIx Cloud coverage above.
- The Jaguar XJ at all model years (XJ is not covered by TOPIx Cloud and requires SDD).
If you are servicing an older Jaguar or Land Rover vehicle outside the TOPIx Cloud model year coverage, SDD is the correct JLR diagnostic platform.
