GM GDS2 Supported Vehicles - Global A Vehicle List by Year (2008–Current)
Quick reference list of GM Global A vehicles that require GDS2 for diagnostics and programming, organized by model year (2008–current). Includes North American and international models, plus the warning that Global A vehicles do not accept used replacement modules.
About this reference
This is a quick reference of GM vehicles built on the Global A platform - the GM models that require GDS2 (rather than Tech2) for diagnostics and programming. The list is organized by model year, starting in 2008. The 2007-and-older column is included for completeness: no vehicles on this list are model year 2007 or older.
Important: Global A vehicles do not accept used replacement modules. When replacing a module on any vehicle in this list, plan to use a new module - used modules from a donor vehicle will not function. This is one of the most common reasons a Global A programming job fails after a module swap.
Note: Bold entries are North American vehicles. Italicized entries are international vehicles, with the country in parentheses. The 2011–2013 Chevrolet Captiva Sport is Tech2 supported (not GDS2), even though Captiva variants in other markets appear on this list.

2014 and current
All GM vehicles model year 2014 and newer are Global A and require GDS2 for diagnostics and programming. There are no exceptions on the North American market from 2014 onward.
Tech2-supported exception within this date range
The 2011–2013 Chevrolet Captiva Sport (sold in North America) is Tech2 supported, not GDS2. If you're working on a Captiva Sport in that year range, use Tech2 rather than GDS2. This is the only Tech2 exception that overlaps with the GDS2 timeframe.
