Launching the Chrysler J2534 Flash Application from WiTECH 2.0

WiTECH 2.0 runs two applications: the standard WiTECH 2 for a MicroPod, and the Chrysler J2534 Flash Application for J2534 pass-thru tools like the AEZ Flasher 3. Here's how to install and switch to the J2534 flash application, and what you need before you do.

WiTECH 2.0 has two separate applications, and knowing which one you need is the key to getting a flash to run. The standard WiTECH 2 application is what you use with a MicroPod (MDP, MDP+, or WSP). The Chrysler J2534 Flash Application is the one you use when you're flashing through a J2534 pass-thru device such as the AEZ Flasher 3. If you're trying to flash a module with a Flasher 3 and can't find the option, it's because you're in the wrong application — you need to switch to the J2534 flash application. This guide covers what you need first, how to install and launch it, and what to check when it won't work.

Before you start: what you need

Make sure you have all of the following, or the flash won't complete:

- An active WiTECH 2 subscription and TechAuthority subscription.

- A flash token for the vehicle. One token covers one vehicle for a year — tokens are needed for module flashing and programming, not for diagnostics alone. See the flash token purchase guide linked below.

- A supported J2534 pass-thru interface — the AEZ Flasher 3 is the standard choice for the Chrysler J2534 path. (If you're using a MicroPod instead, you don't need the J2534 application at all — use the standard WiTECH 2.)

- A battery maintainer connected to the vehicle to hold voltage steady through the flash.

Step 1 - Install the WiTECH 2 J2534 application

The J2534 flash application is a separate download from the standard WiTECH 2 application. Download and install the WiTECH 2 J2534 application from the Mopar Aftermarket Subscription Portal (mopartsp.com) using your Stellantis account login.

If you don't have a Stellantis / Mopar account yet, set that up first — see the WiTECH account setup guide linked below.

Step 2 — Launch the application and switch to the J2534 flash application

1. Launch the WiTECH 2.0 J2534 application.

2. In the menu bar, click Connect.

3. Select "Switch to Chrysler J2534 Flash Application." That switches WiTECH out of the standard MicroPod mode and into the J2534 flash mode, where your pass-thru device (such as the AEZ Flasher 3) is used for the flash.

Step 3 — Run the flash With the J2534 flash application open and the AEZ Flasher 3 connected to the vehicle:

1. Confirm the interface is detected.

2. Select the module you're flashing and follow the on-screen programming steps.

3. Do not interrupt the flash once it starts, and keep the battery maintainer connected throughout.

Troubleshooting

"I don't see the option to switch to the J2534 flash application." The J2534 application is a separate install from the standard WiTECH 2 — if it was never installed, the option won't appear. Install the WiTECH 2 J2534 application from the Mopar portal (Step 1), then relaunch.

"The flash won't start or fails partway." Confirm you have an active subscription and an available flash token for that vehicle — flashing requires a token, and a missing or used-up token will stop the programming. Check voltage as well; a battery maintainer is required. See the WiTECH programming troubleshooting guide linked below.

"The J2534 application opens but the interface isn't detected." Confirm the AEZ Flasher 3 is connected and its drivers/firmware are current, and that you selected it as the device in the application. See the Flasher/MicroPod setup guide linked below.

"Which do I use - MicroPod or J2534?" If you have a MicroPod (MDP, MDP+, WSP), use the standard WiTECH 2 application — you don't need the J2534 flash application. Use the J2534 flash application when you're working through a J2534 pass-thru device like the AEZ Flasher 3.
