How to program keys for Nissan with immobilizer 2 system

This article only applies to 2020+ Sentra, 2021-2023 Rogue, and 2023+ Pathfinder



  1. Open the Consult III application then you will be greeting with a User Group selection page and make to change it to USA/Canada AftermarketScreenshot 2025-07-08 155616
  2. Next you will be required to log in, use your Nissan Account Login 
  3. Now on the main screen of the Nissan software will need to select your device
    1. If you using a J2534 device click on Select VI/MI then in the next menu click on VCI and choose your device
    2. If you are using the Nissan VI 2 or the Nissan VI 3 your device will automatically be selected for you

  4. Next you will clock on Immobilizer on the right side and click Next on the following screen
  5. At this point the software should be attempting to read the VIN and if it doesn't you can manually enter the VIN 
  6. Once the vehicle shows up click Confirm
  7. Next you will click on When performing key registration then click on Register key

  8. Click Next on the following screen, and then make sure the Hazards Lights are on and that you are in Park, then click Next again

  9. Click Next on all the following screens until you hit the screen show in the photo below, and at this point you will click Next with the key fob sitting in front the of the push button

  10. Then with the key fob still on top of the button click add and the key will turn green and to add more keys put the next key up to the button and click Add again

  11. Once it is done you will click Next, then click Next again when it says Obtain Immobilizer Code at the code
  12. Next you have to register keys again by repeating 10

  13. On the next screen it will want you to test out the key and make sure it works then click End

Important Extras

If key programming fails at step 10  it is most likely a bad key fob, especially if you are using non OEM key fobs.
