How to fix multi-partition issues on a Durabook laptop using BootIT

Standard operating procedure for recovering a crashed partition on a Durabook multi-partition diagnostic laptop using the BootIT utility, with steps for when the partition still won't boot and technician assistance is needed.

Has a partition crashed on your Durabook multi-partition diagnostic laptop and won't boot? This procedure guides technicians through recovering a crashed partition using the BootIT utility. Follow each step in order. Use this procedure only for partition boot failures.

Recovery steps for a crashed Durabook partition

Step 1: Shut the computer down completely (full power off - not sleep or hibernate).

Step 2: Power the computer back on. Immediately begin pressing the F12 key repeatedly as the machine starts up.

Step 3: A screen will appear displaying "BootIT." Select BootIT and allow it to complete its functions.

Step 4: Once BootIT finishes, power the computer off again, then turn it back on.

Step 5: When prompted, attempt to select one of the available partitions from the boot menu.

Step 6: Select the partition that crashed and wait to see if it boots successfully.

Note: If the partition will not boot, do not retry repeatedly - proceed directly to Step 7.

Step 7: If the partition fails to boot, submit a support ticket. A technician will remotely log in and restore the crashed partition.

Quick reference

F12 (at startup): Opens the BootIT boot menu.

BootIT: Partition repair and management utility.

Support Ticket: Required if the partition still won't boot after BootIT - a technician will restore it remotely.
