How Porsche PCSS software works — virtual machine based
Porsche PCSS software exists on several virtual machines that are run by and monitored by Porsche AG. The US virtual machines are located at Porsche North American Headquarters in Atlanta, GA. You do not install PCSS on your own computer - you connect to a remote Porsche virtual machine to use the software.
AETools owns the security certificate required to access Porsche PCSS. The customer cannot run or use the Porsche PCSS software without AETools involved. This means your access is tied to the AETools security certificate and cannot be transferred or used independently.
Important things to know before using Porsche PCSS
Porsche PCSS can be slow. If all the virtual machines are in use, you have to wait in a queue until a virtual machine becomes available. This wait could take anywhere from 15 minutes up to 48 hours depending on demand.
Inactivity while using Porsche PCSS will result in your virtual machine access being forfeited. If that happens, you will have to go back into the queue and wait for another available virtual machine. Be patient and stay active during your session.
Because of the virtual machine setup and potential wait times, plan your Porsche diagnostic and programming work accordingly. Set aside enough time and do not expect instant access like other diagnostic platforms.

PorscheSubscription-1Month: 30 days of access for $1,272.00. Best for shops that regularly service Porsche vehicles and need ongoing access.
PorscheSubscription-1YR: 365 days of access for $11,865.00. Annual subscription for high-volume Porsche service shops.
Porsche PCSS security certificate and access limitations
AETools owns the Porsche PCSS security certificate. Customers cannot obtain their own security certificate — obtaining one directly from Porsche is a minimum 6-month process, and AETools cannot assist users in obtaining a security certificate from Porsche independently.
This means all Porsche PCSS access must go through AETools. You cannot run the software without AETools being involved.
