Why a New Ford Key Has MyKey Limits

A normally programmed new Ford key should be an admin key. MyKey restrictions apply only when a key has been set up as a MyKey through the vehicle's menu.

How to Remove MyKey Restrictions

MyKey limits can only be removed using an admin key for that vehicle, through the vehicle's MyKey menu. A MyKey cannot be used to remove MyKey restrictions on itself.

If You Have No Admin Key or Keys Keep Failing

If a replacement key came up restricted, or the fob fails intermittently, use Ford IDS or FJDS to erase all keys, then reprogram two keys as admin keys. This also helps separate a key problem from a vehicle problem. An active Ford diagnostic software subscription is required.
