Ford IDS or FJDS Says “Connect to the Internet for the Latest Module Programming Updates”: What It Means and How to Install the Update
Why Ford IDS and FJDS show this message, which update to download for your interface, and the order to install it in.
What the Message Means
Ford IDS and Ford FJDS can show this message: “Connect to the internet for the latest Module Programming updates. Skipping this step may result in an outdated Module Programming.” It means a newer Ford update is available that is not yet installed on your laptop. Install the update before you do module programming on a Ford or Lincoln vehicle.
Which Update to Download
Download the update from the Ford Motorcraft Service diagnostic support page: https://www.motorcraftservice.com/diagnostic/Support?channelId=50&categoryId=276
Choose the update that matches your interface:
-
If you use a Ford VCM2 or VCM3, download the IDS update.
-
If you use an AEZ Flasher 3 (J2534 device), download the FJDS update.
Install the Latest Version First, Then the Update
You must already have the latest full version installed before you can install the update. For example, version 133.01 has to be installed first, and then the 133.02 patch. If the update will not install, the full version underneath it is usually out of date.
If the Update Will Not Install
Check the installed version in Control Panel under Programs and Features. If it is older than the current full version, install that full version first, then install the update. Keep the software signed in with the Motorcraft login that holds your Ford subscription.
