Do All Manufacturers Use NASTF for Immobilizer Programming?
Most vehicle manufacturers in North America rely on NASTF (National Automotive Service Task Force) to provide access to immobilizer-related programming tasks through the Secure Data Release Model (SDRM). This system ensures that locksmiths and repair professionals can perform key coding, module replacement, and other security-related procedures legally and securely. However, there are a few notable exceptions.
Manufacturers That Don’t Use NASTF for Immobilizer Programming
As of now, the following manufacturers do not use the NASTF system for immobilizer-related services:
1. Volkswagen & Audi
Volkswagen Group does not integrate with NASTF for key programming or immobilizer functions. Access to these systems typically requires using OE software (ODIS).
2. GM (General Motors) & Sub-Brands (Chevrolet, GMC, etc.)
GM and its associated brands do not route immobilizer functions through NASTF. Key programming and security procedures are handled entirely within Service Programming System (SPS).
3. Volvo & Polestar
Volvo and Polestar also fall outside of the NASTF system. Their security functions are handled via Volvo’s VIDA software, and access is granted through their proprietary accounts and tools.
